Apr. 23, 2009 (China Knowledge) – Airbus SAS is in talks with Chinese counterparts to locate a part of the A350 work in Tianjin, which would involve a new segment within the airplane manufacturing industry, said Marc Bertiaux, vice-president of Airbus Cooperation and Partnership with China, China Daily reported on Wednesday.

In 2007, Airbus signed a deal with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China’s top planning body, to allocate 5% of the A350 XWB airframe work to the Chinese aviation industry. However, Bertiaux did not disclose details of the possible new project in Tianjin due to commercial considerations, according to the report.

In addition, the company also plans to build a logistics center in Tianjin, which will offer efficient and effective services for Airbus’ airplane manufacturing activity in the country.

Last year, Airbus launched the Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Tianjin, which involves investment of RMB 8~10 billion. The Tianjin FAL was the first Airbus final assembly line outside Europe.
